The NSW Government has opened a second round of applications for membership of its ICT Advisory Panel, made up of private sector and research representatives charged with providing new perspectives and independent advice to the State’s ICT Board.

It is looking for three new members, according to Finance and Services Minister Greg Pearce.

“One of these positions is new, and will see the panel expanded to eight, while two other others will step in to vacating positions,” he said in a statement.

A spokeswoman for the Minister said she could not yet confirm who was departing from the panel.

Past applications to the ICT Advisory Panel will be automatically reconsidered and all new applicants should send submissions to NSWICT@services.nsw.gov.au

Document format standards ECMA 376 1st edition and ISO/IEC 29500:2008 have been selected as preferred file formats under the Federal Government’s Common Operating Environment (COE) policy. First Assistant Secretary at the Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO) John Sheridan wrote on AGIMO Blog that the update aims to support interoperability between Microsoft Office 2007 or 2010 and non-Microsoft office productivity suites.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics is looking for a new Assistant Statistician to serve in its Technology Services Division, who will report directly to Chief Information Officer Patrick Hadley.

AirServices Australia is looking to recruit a Manager, ICT Solutions Delivery and a Manager, ICT Platform Services to work in its ICT Division, under Chief Information Officer Anna Townsend.

The Victorian Transport Ticketing Authority has approached the market to engage a third party to decommission its Metcard Ticketing infrastructure, which has been replaced by the electronic Myki system. It is inviting Expressions of Interest for both tranches of the infrastructure removal, which will cover stainless steel and computer-related equipment respectively.

Bridge Point Communications has entered into a Standing Offer Arrangement for the supply and delivery of routers to Queensland state schools for three years. The deal is estimated to be worth $2 million over this period.

The Department of Infrastructure and Transport has bought 1,300 desktop PCs and 1,950 monitors from Ethan Group as part of its Desktop Refresh Program. Both contracts have been signed through the whole-of-government Desktop Hardware Panel.

The NSW Police Force is on the lookout for a Mobile Device Business Specialist. The agency’s CIO Chris Robson is an advocate for mobile technology.

The NSW Ombudsman’s office is looking to recruit a Manager to lead its small Information Technology Team.
