While the Federal Labor Government is busy bedding down a message of fiscal restraint in inflationary times, the New South Wales Planning Minister Frank Sartor is setting up a $35m land management office.

The new Office of Strategic Lands, which will be part of the Department of Planning, is set to employ 35 staff, and will be expected to implement the Government’s land acquisition and management programs. It is not known whether the staff will be freshly recruited, or drawn from other areas of the Department...

Queensland Policy to Buy Green

Significant changes have emerged from the Queensland Government's new State Procurement Policy that came into effect on 1 January 2008.

One of the issues the Queensland Government has sought to highlight in the Policy is sustainability. In announcing the new Policy, the Department of Works, states that it "sets out to ensure the State Government’s purchasing power is used to acquire goods that are more environmentally friendly." Further, it claims that the Queensland Government Chief Procurement Office is already leading the way in "green procurement"...

NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change Licensing and Assessment RFT

The Department of Environment and Conservation was restructured following the NSW election and became the Department of Environment and Climate Change (DECC) on 2 April 2007.

However, it seems that someone omitted to update the name in the recently released request for tender for a Licensing and Assessment System which was issued under the old Departmental name.
