Secondly, Labor will continue to invest in e-health initiatives, with a particular focus on online health and telemedicine services for regional areas, including Medicare rebates for online medical consultations and videoconferencing.

NSW Government Bill to dramatically alter Transport administration structure

A Bill passed by the Legislative Assembly on 19 May has the potential to radically modify the structure, organisation and function of transport administration and governance in New South Wales.  This has wide-sweeping implications for information and communication technology provision in future years for up to 13 different transport agencies.

NSW Transport & Infrastructure ICT initiatives: Auditor-General

The NSW Auditor-General, Peter Achterstraat has outlined several ICT projects being undertaken by NSW Transport and Infrastructure (NSWTI) that have the “potential to significantly improve bus services” as well as signify a “step forward” for the NSW buses’ performance assessment regime.

Sydney Ferries upgrades with Thales

Sydney Ferries Corporation has awarded electronic systems provider Thales a $10 million contract to carry out a “world-class” upgrade of its aging fleet. The contract represents the third transport-related win that Thales has had in NSW – the other two being with RailCorp and with Downer EDI Rail (where Thales is a sub-contractor).
