Half-year results show Federal Market down $1 billion

DAFF takes out contract with EDS

EDS has won a $96 million infrastructure deal with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.

The contract involves management and support of approximately 5,000 employees, as well as the provision of storage, IT architecture and design services in a multivendor agency environment.

Under the five-year agreement, EDS will provide desktop, server, storage and architecture services.

The contract signifies the break-away of the Group 8 outsourcing arrangement established in 2000.

Federal agencies have published an increased number of planned ICT procurements for the 2009-10 financial year, showing signs that the public sector still poses ample opportunities for ICT firms despite a sluggish broader market.
