Fujitsu/Kaz: A new force in government ICT markets

Following discussions that continued for more than 12 months, Telstra today announced it had finalized sale of its IT services arm, Kaz Group, to Fujitsu for $200 million.

Telstra acquired Kaz for $333 million in 2004, but since then has sold off several components of the business.

Kaz had been on the market for some time, with Fujitsu apparently the only serious bidder. Early in 2008, rumours were rife that Fujitsu was about to acquire Kaz, but the parties could not agree on price...

DAFF takes out contract with EDS

EDS has won a $96 million infrastructure deal with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.

The contract involves management and support of approximately 5,000 employees, as well as the provision of storage, IT architecture and design services in a multivendor agency environment.

Under the five-year agreement, EDS will provide desktop, server, storage and architecture services.

The contract signifies the break-away of the Group 8 outsourcing arrangement established in 2000.
