Following discussions that continued for more than 12 months, Telstra today announced it had finalized sale of its IT services arm, Kaz Group, to Fujitsu for $200 million.

Telstra acquired Kaz for $333 million in 2004, but since then has sold off several components of the business.

Kaz had been on the market for some time, with Fujitsu apparently the only serious bidder. Early in 2008, rumours were rife that Fujitsu was about to acquire Kaz, but the parties could not agree on price...

In a market hit hard by the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) and still reeling from the Gershon Review, the IT Services category emerged as the leading category of financial year (FY) 2008-09, taking out 54 % of business in the Federal Government ICT Market, according to Intermedium’s Federal Government IT Services Report 2008-09....

The majority of the top 10 ICT suppliers to the Federal Government experienced an increase in their average contract value from 2007-08 to 2008-09. This reflects a trend which is evident across the Federal Government market for agencies to sign up for a smaller number of larger contracts.

Of the top 10 ICT suppliers to the Federal Government two were excluded from this analysis, Intelsat General and Wells Fargo Bank, because these companies signed only one contract each in 2008-09...
