Former Acting Chief Information Officer, Keith Roscarel, has moved on from the Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA). ACARA human resources told Intermediumthat the CIO position will not be re-filled and that Mark Cheeseman will take over as head of IT in his capacity as Senior Manager, Technology and Planning.
ACARA is the agency behind the national My School website.
Accenture has continued its run of government ICT wins with a $111 million contract for the provision of Enterprise Data Warehouse managed services for the National Health Reform Program, signed with the Department of Health and Ageing.
PriceWaterhouseCoopers has just completed a report for the NSW transport department, advising it on a future delivery strategy for shared services reform. The report was commissioned for $352,000, according to the NSW eTendering website.
Telstra will be responsible for rolling out telecommunications infrastructure aimed at improving mobile coverage in rural Western Australia, under a $39.2 million contract signed with the WA Government. The improvements will be funded from a pool of mining royalties earmarked for re-investment into WA communities.
The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations has spent $10,513,214 on the procurement of new IT mainframe hardware, provided by IBM.
Nominations have opened for the 2012 Australian Government ICT Awards, with winners to be announced at CeBIT in May.
The Department of Health and Ageing has approached the market for hosting, maintenance and data content management for its National Public Toilet Map and Bladder Bowel websites. The National Public Toilet Map database is a perennial favourite on the data.gov.au website.
An analysis of Australian political parties’ donation register, conducted by IT News, shows that Optus tops the list of donors when it comes to the ICT industry.
Computerworld has reported that Brian Fenwick has been appointed general manager for government hosting at Macquarie Telecom.
