In other public-sector ICT news this week...

Special Minister for State, Gary Gray, has released a report showing that 47 per cent of Australians opted to access government services online in 2011, in instances where online services were available. In 2005 less than half of this figure, or 19 per cent of surveyed Australians, reported having used the internet for their most recent interaction with government.

 

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) is looking to appoint a new Chief Information Officer, with applications for the role closing on 30 January 2012. Peter Bickerton, who had been in the role since May 2010, was seconded to the Department of Health and Ageing in September.

 

NSW Health is seeking a contractor to implement an Intensive Care Clinical Information System (ICCIS) Software solution. It is expected that the solution will be fully implemented at all 45 ICU sites in NSW by 2014.

The Federal Government has announced another $20.6 million in funding for telehealth, under the NBN Telehealth Pilot Program.

 

Logica has appointed a former member of the Australian Military, Dehann Browne, to the role of Client Executive for Defence, to be based in Canberra. The company says that the appointment is part of its expansion into the defence sector.

 

Queensland Urban Utilities, the water authority overseen by the Brisbane and Ipswich City Councils, and Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim and Somerset Regional Councils, has approached the market for an ICT Managed Services provider. The contract will cover Centralised Computing Services, Service Desk Services, Applications Services, Distributed Computing Services and Common Services.
