Defence and Industry Portal Up and Running

by Staff Writers •
Subscriber preview

The new Defence and Industry ePortal is operational, enabling companies to list their capabilities and to provide information for contractors looking for Australian partners.

The ePortal incorporates an Industry Capability Information System that contains publicly searchable data on the capabilities offered by Australian and New Zealand Defence companies that allows Defence contractors to find Australian suppliers. It also allows companies seeking partners with complementary capabilities to find each other.

The ePortal contains data on about 400 Australian companies, and is expected to eventually have up to 2,500 registered companies. The ePortal also provides links to forthcoming Defence business opportunities.

Prime contractors on Defence projects are required under the Australian Industry Capability program to demonstrate that they have examined the Australian Defence market for potential sub-contractors and suppliers in their tenders for projects over $50m. The ePortal is designed to assist them in fulfilling that obligation.
