The Defence + Industry ePortal was closed on 1 December 2014 due to the expense of maintenance and limited utility for industry users, said a Defence spokesperson.
“While the DMO will not be accepting any new company registrations or information following the e-Portal closure… Defence’s Business Access Office (BAO) network will continue to provide information and guidance on doing business with Defence to both existing Defence suppliers and companies seeking entry into the defence market sector.”
A new Defence Industry Policy Statement will be published following the release of the 2015 White Paper, providing greater clarity about priorities and systems.
Following on from these developments to take place in 2015, the DMO will be undertaking a review of the way it communicates with and captures information from Australian defence industry.
“The review will assist in enhancing the way in which DMO informs industry of potential opportunities and gathers data on industry capabilities”, the Defence spokesperson said.
An upgrade of DMO’s website has also been completed as part of the initiative, providing a more intuitive and user-friendly experience including a dedicated ‘Doing Business with DMO’ page.
DMO sought to reassure industry partners in a recent statement that existing information contained in the ePortal database will be retained internally.
