Headquarters Joint Operation Command (HQJOC) is recruiting to the position of Director of Command Information Management. The role is the principle information management adviser to the Deputy Chief of Joint Operation. The successful applicant will "need to liaise with senior management, develop information management strategies, implement Defence and Headquarter policy; then provide guidance and supervise dedicated staff".

A key focus of the job is "ensuring that information is flowing effectively both within the Headquarters and to and from external organisations". This will presumably include Defence's Chief Information Office Group (CIOG), where recruitment is underway for Defence's Chief Information Officer.

In contrast with the seniority of the CIO role (at the equivalent of Deputy Secretary level), the Director of Command Information Management role is advertised at Executive Level 2. It will attract a salary of between $89,941 to $107,776 (plus superannuation). The position will initially be located in either Sydney or Canberra but as part of HQJOC, will locate to Bungendore in early 2009.

HQJOC provides command and control for Australia's operational activities which range from war fighting, United Nations and other international operations, regional activities, support for disaster relief, other activities as directed by government and contingency planning.
