The Head of NSW Procurement position has been advertised after being substantively vacant since late last year. David Callahan has been acting in the position since the departure of Paul Hopkins in November 2007.

Paul Hopkins was Head of NSW Procurement and Deputy Chair, State Contracts Control Board. He followed Michael Coutts-Trotter, the man who appointed him to his role at Commerce, to the position of Chief Procurement Officer at the NSW Department of Education and Training.

David Callahan came to Commerce late in 2007 from a position as General Manager Northern Region with State Transit. He is part of a group with a strong transport background in the senior ranks at NSW Commerce including the Minister, Eric Roozendahl and the Director-General, John Lee.

If he is is confirmed in this position, David Callahan will be one of the youngest ever NSW Deputy Directors-General.
