NSW Procurement has made available the list of suppliers for the NSW Government’s General Telecommunications Agreement (GTA) Category (Cat) 5 (GTA5).
The GTA5 contract, which expires 31 March 2011 (that is, in just one year’s time) supplies telecommunication equipment and services, including:
- Telephone and telephone network systems and associated services
- Audio/video conferencing systems; and
- Paging and broadcast equipment and systems.
In line with the approach to the IT Services 2020 contract, a large number of suppliers have been approved. The 85 suppliers provide services across 18 functions. The same ePortal that is used by agencies to select suppliers from the IT Services 2020 contract is being utilised for GTA5.
24 approved suppliers are common to both panels. That is, 28% of GTA5 suppliers are also on the 2020 panel while 8% of 2020 suppliers are also on the GTA5 panel. Common suppliers include:
- Dimension Data;
- Fujitsu Australia;
- Gen-i Australia; and
- UXC Getronics Australia Pty Ltd.
According to a NSW Buy fact sheet, the GTAs as a whole are delivering $50 million savings annually across hundreds of public sector organisations.
GTA Categories 3 (Fixed Voice Services) and 4 (Mobile, Satellite and Paging Products and Services) are claimed to be significant contributors to these savings. Under the arrangements, agencies can now pay a common price with no request for quotations. This significantly reduces the cost of procurement.
In the Federal arena, according to Intermedium’s research, the corresponding telecommunications equipment category was worth $88 m in 2008-09.
The list of approved suppliers is available for download off the NSW Buy website.
