Intermedium’s IT Services Report for financial year 2008-09 has revealed Managed Services as the leading sub-category in this segment.
The value of Labour Hire saw it take out second place.
Intermedium’s Federal Government IT Services 2008-09 report shows (“IT Services top category in FY 2008-09…”, 2 February 2010) that IT Services was by far the leading category in the Federal Government market, taking out 54% of ICT business.
Managed Services is a highly concentrated market with the majority of contract value allocated to the Top 10 suppliers.
A number of government department feature in the Managed Services top suppliers list. This shows that services provided by them to other agencies are now the subject of contracts that are posted in AusTender.
The top Managed Services supplier, EDS (now HP Enterprise Services), took out 64% of business in FY 2008-09.
From 2007-08, the value of Managed Services contracts was up 60%.
ICT procurement by Federal Government agencies in FY 2008-09 was hit hard by the cost-cutting initiatives of the Gershon Review.
Other sub-categories of IT Services are: Labour Hire, System Integration Services, Software Support, Business Consulting, Hardware Support, Not Specified and Training.
