More audits will not fix cyber security - Auditor

Better cyber security practices by Federal government agencies will not be the result of more Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) audits, according to Auditor General Grant Hehir.

The ANAO’s ongoing auditing of agency cyber resilience has repeatedly found shortcomings in basic cyber security practices, including measures that are considered mandatory. The ANAO has also found that there have been no consequences for agencies that remain non-compliant.
