Alan Bennett has taken on the role of Executive General Manager of Oakton NSW.  He will be responsible for the future direction of Oakton's business strategies and activities in NSW, and be a key member of Oakton’s Executive leadership team.

“As general manager of New South Wales, I’ve got full accountability for market strategy, client relationships and satisfaction as well as delivery quality,” Bennett told Intermedium.

This level of accountability and autonomy is also a feature of the role of his Dimension Data counterpart, with whom Alan expects to have a high level of synergy, even though the two companies will retain their separate brand identities following the November 2014 $171 million acquisition of Oakton by Dimension Data.

Mr Bennett, a former General Manager and Vice President of HP Australia, and a current member of the NSW Procurement Advisory Board, has had a significant amount of experience with the public sector.

He singled out the growing digitalisation of the economy and of business practices as the main ICT challenge confronting the public sector. “The digital generation expects ICT performance from the public sector which matches their experience of the private sector,” he said.

“Some agencies will find it more difficult than others to reposition for a digital world, but I feel that all are moving in this direction.

“I’ve had the opportunity to see how to make a company relevant to clients in the past and I will try to ensure that Oakton is ready to assist wherever possible,” he added.
