Over $130 million has been allocated in 2022-23 for existing digital and information and communication technology projects in the Northern Territory Budget, but the biggest surprise of Budget Day was Chief Minister and Treasurer Michael Gunner’s resignation, effective immediately.

Under his stewardship, the Territory’ score has steadily risen in Intermedium’s Digital Government Readiness Indicator, with the jurisdiction outperforming some of its much larger and better-resourced peers. Caucus will meet to choose his  replacement as early as Friday 13 May and it is to be hoped that the new leader is similarly supportive.
