In other public sector ICT and digital news for 12 October 2021:

  • Digital Minister Victor Dominello has announced that COVID-19 digital vaccination certificates will be integrated into the venue check-in function of the Service NSW app from 18 October following a successful pilot across regional NSW.
  • The Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) has selected the first four cloud providers to receive certified strategic status under the Hosting Certificate Framework (HCF). The chosen companies are Amazon Web Services (AWS), AUCloud, Sliced Tech, and Vault Cloud.
  • The ACT has released its 2021-22 Budget, which includes over $40 million for digital and cyber security services. This includes $14.8 million for increasing online government services and a further $17.3 million in continued funding for ACT Data Analytics Centre digital projects.
  • The Australian Business Growth Fund has made its first investment, awarding $15 million to electric vehicle technology company 3ME Technology for increased production, investments and expanding manufacturing opportunities.
  • The Bureau of Meteorology will open a space weather hub in Adelaide in 2022, backed by the Australian and South Australian governments, to monitor celestial events, like solar flares, which disrupt digital services such as radio communications and GPS.
  • Queensland’s Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) has launched a new microservices and event-driven architecture (MEDA) platform built by software company Thoughtworks.
