In other public sector ICT and digtal news for the 16th of February

  • Sitecore will deliver the Australian Tax Office’s (ATO) digital experience platform (DXP) in a contract worth $2.5 million. The DXP will aggregate the ATO’s internal and external websites into a single platform. 

  • Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced that the state will roll out its digital driver’s licence in 2023. This follows a six-month trial conducted in Maryborough and Hervey Bay. Another trial will be held in Townsville later this year. Digital driver’s licences are currently available in NSW and SA. Other jurisdictions, including ACT and WA, have announced plans to trial digital licence technology.  

  • Agriculture Minister David Littleproud has announced that the CSIRO will help the Government develop a plan using the ‘best available science’ to combat drought in agricultural communities using $40.6 million in funding from the Future Drought Fund. Littleproud says that ‘local knowledge’ will be paired with the best available data to identify paths of resilience across agriculture and allied industries.  

  • The Attorney-General’s Department will spend 18 months implementing systems that will allow users to complete legal documents digitally as part of the Prime Minister and Cabinet’s WofG Deregulation Agenda. Users will be able to use electronic signatures and have statutory declarations witnessed via audio-visual technology.  

  • The Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) has introduced a new ICT Labour Hire Category, to its Digital Marketplace effective from 17 February 2022.  The current Digital Marketplace panel, which was established in April 2017 has an expiry date of February 2023.  

  • The Federal Government will contribute $65 million to help grow Australia’s space sector. Prime Minister Morrison wants to triple the size of the sector and create up to 20,000 new jobs by 2030. 

  • The NSW Government’s graduate program is Australia’s most sought-after public sector program and the second-most popular across all sectors, coming in a close second to ANZ Bank. The program is offering over 500 positions across 53 agencies in 2023.
