  • The Department of Defence has revealed plans for multi-vendor IaaS, PaaS and SaaS cloud services at the secret level. The Notice to Industry outlines an intent to collaborate with Home Affairs and DFAT, and share information from the market processes with other agencies.
  • A senior data scientist at eHealth NSW has revealed that the Amazon SageMaker machine learning platform is being used in a sepsis prediction clinical pilot to detect the life-threatening condition. IT News reports that the project is underway at an unnamed hospital.
  • The WA government has established a five person ‘uplift team’ within the Office of Digital Government’s (DGov) cyber security unit to help agencies to implement Essential Eight cyber security controls. IT News notes that half of WA’s government agencies did not meet information security benchmarks in 2021, with “no noticeable improvement from the previous year”.
  • The Australian Unemployed Workers’ Union (AUWU) has developed a website application (known as ROAR) to ‘crowdsource’ satisfaction scores with the 7000+ Employment Service Providers, after a previous government-run ‘star’ system was scrapped. The Mandarin reports that so far, the AUWU’s survey has 242 responses.
