In other public sector ICT and digital news for 14 September 2021:

  • The NSW Department of Customer Service has issued an approach to the market seeking to expand and diversify the state government’s cloud environment. This major cloud shift falls in line with the government’s ‘public cloud first’ policy.
  • The Australian government has released data claiming that almost 600 IT contracts have been awarded to Indigenous SMEs since 2018. The total value of these contracts is around $188 million.
  • The Australian Public Service Commissioner Peter Woolcott has released the organisation’s 2021-2022 Corporate Plan. The report lists public sector and digital reform, lifting capabilities and enabling a flexible workforce as the agency’s major priorities
  • Transport for NSW (TfNSW) is using AI technologies to develop tools to help governments manage road safety performance. The agency has teamed up with iMove Cooperative Research Centre (CRC), the University of Technology Sydney, the International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP), and data firm Anditi to develop the new technology.
