The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) says that it will turn to the whole-of-government Data Centre Facilities Panel to contract a new data centre provider prior to the expiry of its standing offer arrangement with Hitachi in August 2012. Hitachi is not a member of the panel.
The Department of Finance and Deregulation has dipped into the $2.3 million it received in the 2011-12 Federal Budget to investigate and test ways to improve individuals’ ease of use and access to Australian Government services through a scoping study, technical pilot and business case. It has signed a $22,500 contract with Connexxion for business case advice.
A restructured NSW Transport Department has become operational as of 1 November. All transport planning and policy functions have been bundled into the new body, Transport for NSW, and the date also marks the formal establishment of NSW Roads and Maritime, a new entity formed from the former Roads and Traffic Authority and Maritime NSW.

The Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) has established a panel for the provision of spatial software and services, which will operate until October 2014. Eight suppliers are listed as panellists and the panel will be used by just the one agency.
A Request for Tender for secure internet gateway services, due to be published by the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet last Friday, has once again been postponed. At this stage it will be released via Austender on 21 November 2011.
