The Victorian Government has moved to scrap its whole-of-government eServices Panel in exchange for a new eServices Register. The change was prompted by a joint industry and government working group report which examined the State’s ICT procurement.

Unlike the eServices Panel, which came under fire for its restricted supplier list, all eligible companies will be able to apply for Register membership under a procurement model more in keeping with a Multi-Use List.

The ACT Budget 2012-13 has unveiled $22.5 million worth of new ICT projects over three years. Apart from an $8.2 million replacement of the Courts and Tribunal Case Management System, the bulk of these new initiatives will benefit the ACT’s Shared Services Centre. These projects include $5.4 million for data storage infrastructure, $2.4 million for a Whole-of-Government Digital Network and $1.9 million for Whole-of-Government Identity and Access Management.

Sharp has secured a $7.8 million contract for Managed Print Services with the CSIRO. The three year contract will cover the provision of printers, photocopiers and fax machines at the agency.

The NSW Parliament has launched a major ICT infrastructure upgrade program, inviting selected suppliers to participate in the tender process. According to tender documents, which have since been restricted, the project will replace a range of ageing software platforms with newer programs, predominantly from Microsoft.

Also in NSW, Transport for NSW has signed a $12 million contract with UXC Connect to provide managed network services for the next three years, as reported by ZD Net. UXC has previously provided managed network services for the Roads and Traffic Authority, now the Roads and Maritime Services, since 1997.

With the creation of Queensland’s new National Heavy Vehicle Regulator Project Office, the Department of Transport and Main Roads is looking for suitable vendors to build, create and implement all new IT systems for the Office. As detailed in an open invitation to potential suppliers, the project includes the provision of Road Access, Portal, Workflow, Case Management, CRM, Payment Services, GIS, Integration, Data Centre and Hosting Services.

IP Australia has established three new Standing Offer Arrangements, for network cabling, phone and video conferencing equipment and Alcatel compatible equipment. All three contracts will expire in 2015.

Oakton Services has been contracted to undertake an intranet replacement project at Austrade. The recently published standing offer notice indicates that Oakton will provide the relevant services for a one-year period.
