The Department of Finance and Deregulation has published its annual contract with Data #3 for the provision of Microsoft Core Desktop Licences to agencies under the whole-of-government Volume Sourcing Agreement (VSA). The value of the 2012 contract for the 2012 calendar year, $50,616,213, roughly mirrors that of 2011, indicating that the value of the agreement has not materially changed since its renewal in March this year.
In March, Finance announced that it would retain Data #3 as the sole Large Account Reseller to the Federal Government, following a fresh approach to market.
Fairfax has reported that just 320 have signed up for the Personally Controlled Electronic Health Record (PCEHR), in its first five days of operation. The Federal Government is hoping to have 500,000 users signed up by July 1 next year.
The Department of Defence has told Intermedium that it has postponed the finalisation of its Terrestrial Communications contract, which was originally scheduled for mid-2012. It is now scheduled for Government approval in the fourth quarter of 2012 (October to December). Optus and Telstra are the shortlisted vendors.
Defence has signed a $12 million contract for the provision of Finance Systems Business Support with CSC, through its Applications Managed Services Partnership Arrangement (AMSPA). CSC is responsible for the Finance and Logistics Domain of Expertise under the AMSPA.
IT Newshas reported that the NSW Department of Health is standardising the mix of email platforms in use across the State’s health system to Microsoft Exchange 2010. Legacy Exchange and Novell Groupwise platforms will be replaced, the Department hopes, by December 2012.

The NSW Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) is in the process of rationalising the instances of SAP in use across the cluster to a single SAP ERP managed by Businesslink, reports IT News. The process is expected to be complete by mid 2013.
The Northern Territory’s Department of Natural Resources, Environment, the Arts and Sport is looking for a Chief Information Officer to lead its ICT environment. It is offering a four year contract with a salary of $178,604 per annum.
