The ACT Government is looking for a whole-of-government provider for multifunction devices and printers. Tender documents specify a single supplier arrangement covering a range of multifunction, networked and standalone devices with printing, copying, scanning and faxing capabilities. The request for tender closes on 1 August 2013, with contracts expected to be finalised by November 2013.
Transport for NSW has approached the market for service providers for its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) program that will overhaul transactional processes and systems across the NSW Transport cluster. It has issued requests for tender under two separate categories of Systems Integration Services and Business Transformation and Change Management Services under restricted approaches. Tenders for the two close on 12 August 2013 and 19 August 2013 respectively.
The Australian Taxation Office has signed a $42.3 million contract with IBM for its eCommerce Platform Delivery Project that will reform superannuation transactions through more automated and timely processing and greater system simplification and efficiency.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has commissioned Reactive Media for the development of a mobile site in a deal worth $29.8 million. Despite being the 21st most popular website in Australia and the most popular of any government agency, the bureau has never developed an app or web page specifically designed for mobile devices. A number of Government services including the Australian Government Online Directory and Centrelink have already optimised their websites for mobile devices.
The New Zealand Government has released its ICT strategy and Action Plan to 2017. Developed by a newly formed ICT task force led by Government CIO Colin MacDonald, the strategy and plan comes slightly later than its expected March 2013 date. The Minister for Internal Affairs, Chris Tremain says the plan ensures “a strong move towards online services, better protection of New Zealanders’ private information, more collaboration between government departments, and a change in public service culture”. The action plan endeavours to deliver business savings of $100 million per year.
Northern Territory Police vehicles are being fitted with iPad devices which link to police databases and speed up the process for checking vehicle registrations and personal details. Frontline officers are also being provided with the mobile technology. A trial of eight devices is already underway, with a full rollout of 70 devices expected to be complete in the next few months.
A new smartphone application is being developed in Victoria to allow schools to phase out paper notices and directly send event alerts, notices and photos to parents, reports PS News. IT Company Konnective has been commissioned to trial the app over 50 state schools over the next two years. The initiative comes as part of the Government’s 2013 ICT strategy.
The WA Fiona Stanley hospital project’s outsourced construction manager Serco has issued a request for tender (RFT) for mobile devices with inbuilt cameras, electronic signature capture and barcode scanning capabilities. The RFT closes on 22 July 2013.
The Department of Defence has signed a $19.1 million five-year contract with Group 10 Consulting for Software Asset Management services. The Department announced its intention to appoint a single provider to manage software contracting and licensing as part of the software asset management program (SAM) in May 2013.
As a part of the Software Asset Management Program, Group 10 Consulting has already enlisted Risk Management Technologies for software licenses and system enhancements for Defence in a contract worth $10.3 million.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has signed a $5.4 million contract with Fujitsu for the provision of Management Information Systems. The deal comes after Fujitsu signed a contract with DFAT in April 2013 worth $67.7 million for the development of a new centralised passport issuing system.
