The Australian National Audit Office has released a report on the oversight and management of Defence ICT. The performance audit found Defence has made modest progress in implementing ICT reform, however it also noted “More than two years into the reform process, ICT continues to represent a material risk to the timely achievement of the SRP (Strategic Reform Plan) investment and savings targets”.
Details of the first-ever “cloud computing” contract have been released on Austender. Titled as the “Provision of Cloud Services Contract No 2012.001,” the $1.1 million contract between Fujitsu and the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority marks the first ever instance where the term “cloud” has been used within the title of the contract.

The Queensland Treasury Corporation (QTC) has dumped the Temenos’ T24 platform as the basis of its Onlending and Investment Administration (OLIA) system, after spending $15 million on the project to date. QTC plans to continue the IT upgrade project internally.
The NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) has appointed a temporary CIO which may lead to the creation of a permanent CIO position at the DPC. The former interim CIO of the Sydney Opera House, Emily Morgan, will occupy the position at the DPC for a sixth month period. A permanent CIO position has never previously existed at the Department.
