Peter Duncan replaced Graeme Head as Director-General of the Department of Services Technology and Administration on 2 April 2010.

Mr Duncan, a career public servant, was previously Deputy Director-General in the Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC).

In recent years Mr Duncan was involved in the establishment of the Office of Coordinator General (he was the inaugural Coordinator General) as well as in the NSW Nation Building taskforce.

He has previously held senior roles in Forests NSW, the Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust and the Olympic Co-ordination Authority.

While at DPC Mr Duncan chaired the Government Asset Management Committee and Marine Parks Authority.  He was also the Administrator of the Jenolan Caves Reserve Trust and was recently appointed as a member of the State Contracts Control Board.  It is unclear whether he will take these responsibilities with him to his new role.
