Subscriber preview

Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is looking for assistance in setting up the planned FuelWatch system. Due to begin operating on December 15, the system will report daily fuel prices across Australia.

7000 service stations will be required to report their next-day prices by 2pm each day, and these will be published at 3pm. Prices will then be published by web, e-mail and interactive telephone services.

The FuelWatch Web site will need to support more 200,000 requests per day and be able to deliver up to 30,000 e-mails per day. It will need to be available seven days a week and 24 hours per day. The tender is available on AusTender, and an industry briefing will be held in Canberra on 21 May.
