The new Minister for Veterans Affairs, Matt Keogh, has confirmed the Albanese Government will hire an extra 500 staff to clear a backlog of claims at the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA).

The decision came after ABC News obtained a copy of a 2021 McKinsey report recommending a raft of changes to improve claims processing.  The report makes several recommendations which present opportunities for firms providing digital transformation, change management, and labour hire services to government.  However, under long standing arrangements, Services Australia has been responsible for delivering the technology solution to support Veteran Centric Reform, and a number of the following opportunities may well end up emerging or being handled by that agency.
