WA Budget splashes cash in ICT catch-up

If you blinked, you might have missed the $500 million Western Australia has allocated to upgrade government ICT systems in a bumper 2021-22 Budget on Thursday 9 September

The announcement was buried among dozens of other nine-figure funding items rattled off in what might be most generous Budget delivered in Australia this year.

Last month, Intermedium anticipated that the WA Budget was “likely to contain significant digital transformation funding”, as ICT spending in the last year’s Budget dropped to its lowest level since Labor was elected, and the state finally released a revised Digital Strategy in June.
