The Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO) has suspended applications of inclusion to its two operational ICT multi-use lists, the ICT Management Consultants Multi Use List and the ICT Multi Use List, while a review into their effectiveness of these arrangements is underway. Members of the lists and agencies utilising them have been invited to provide feedback on their experiences.
The Tasmanian Government has selected Anittel ahead of larger telecommunications providers to supply whole-of-government managed voice services for the State’s private network. The contract is worth $18.5 million over the five years to December 2017 and options to extend for another ten years after 2017 are valued at an additional $28.2 million.
The announcement follows the Tasmanian Government’s signing of two $6 million contracts with MyNetFone and Telstra for services relating to carriage, IP-Based services and associated call charges (MyNetFone) and traditional POTS, ISDN and Inbound telephony carriage services (Telstra).
Chief Executive of the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service (ACBPS), Michael Carmody, has retired after 6.5 years at the head of the agency and a total 44 years in the Australian Public Service, according to the Canberra Times.
NSW Transport Minister Gladys Berejiklian has announced that the State intends to replace RailCorp with two new rail operators called Sydney Trains and NSW Trains.
“Sydney Trains will serve customers who need quick, frequent and reliable trains in the greater Sydney suburban area while NSW Trains will serve intercity, regional and country customers who travel longer distances and need comfortable and reliable services,” she said.
The move is part of Transport for NSW’s ‘Fixing the Trains’ reform program.
The Victorian Government has introduced two new information polices designed to make public sector data in the State easier and cheaper to access. The policies relate to mandating levels of public access to data and Intellectual Property arrangements applicable to that data. The Government also intends to redevelop the Victorian data directory at www.data.vic.gov.au.

The Department of Human Service’s Managed Telecommunications Services Project team, which was behind the consolidation of numerous contracts into a single $474 million deal with Telstra earlier this year, has been awarded a Pinnacle Achievement honour for Business Excellence at the Department’s inaugural awards ceremony.
