The Department of Health and Ageing has issued a Request for Tender (RFT) for the Development and support of PharmCIS – a technology solution to support the listing of drugs on the Pharmaceutical Benefit Schedule (PBS).

PharmCIS is key deliverable in the Department’s PharmBiz project, which seeks to deliver improved business systems to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Division. It has three divisions:

  • Improved Business Process and Work Practices;
  • Improved Organisational Structure and Capabilities; and
  • Improved IT Systems.

The Department has released an RFT where the successful tenderer will work in conjunction with the PharmBiz team in delivering PharmCIS.

The tender site says: "The PharmCIS project involves modernising the IT systems that support tracking and listing of proposed medicines and developing new IT systems that enable the pricing of the proposed medicines in line with agreed administrative procedures.

The system will align business processes, work practices and IT systems across the Pharmaceutical Evaluation Branch (PEB) to enable efficient, effective support of PEB business in relation to the consideration for listing, pricing and publishing of PBS approved medicines.
