New Guide for Contracting Agencies

Recognising that developing and managing contracts is an essential skill in the public sector, the Australian National Audit Office and the Department of Finance and Administration have published a new guide for agencies.

The new publication Developing and Managing Contracts: Getting the Right Outcome, Paying the Right Price includes a discussion on developing a contract, commencing from the point where a decision is made on the engagement of a contractor as a result of a tender or other procurement process.

Because public sector contracts vary greatly in terms of value, duration and complexity, the new Guide does not address all the issues that may need to be considered, but it identifies the key issues and considerations entities should be aware of in developing and managing contracts. As such, the Guide is intended to be a general reference for senior managers, contract managers and stakeholders who are involved in the development and management of contracts.
