Following on from a Budget emergency two years ago, the Territory appears to be looking better with its biggest ICT projects well and truly underway.
The Northern Territory Budget has been released with Chief Minister and Treasurer Michael Gunner echoing the optimism and positivity that has become a familiar theme across Australian jurisdictions.
With few new digital initiatives, the 2021-22 Budget sees the funding of previously announced initiatives, particularly telecommunications upgrades, and the continuation of major ICT systems refreshes.
In his speech Gunner said that net debt would be expected to hit $9 billion in 2021-22, $1 billion lower than anticipated in the 2020-21 Budget which predicted a worst-case scenario for the economic effects of the pandemic.
