Transport for NSW is looking for a CIO for Sydney Trains and a head of IT for NSW Trains, which will replace RailCorp from July. The new executive positions will lead the development and implementation of new IT systems, programs and services, according to the job listing.

Queensland Health has awarded a Major Prime Systems Integration contract to UXC for the supply of core technologies, including data and voice communications, wireless LAN and video conferencing systems. The telecommunications infrastructure refresh is valued at between $20 million and $40 million, reports IT News.

Another 14 suppliers have been added to the Federal Government’s Data Centre as a Service (DCaaS) multi use list, for the supply of cloud and cloud-like services. The next round of applications to join the multi-use list will open on 14 February 2014.

The Department of Finance and Deregulation has confirmed that under a restructure that took effect early this month, responsibility for whole-of-government panels will fall to the newly established Technology and Procurement Division to be headed by John Sheridan.

WA’s Department of Local Councils has released an Information and Communications Technology Strategic Framework to assist local governments in effectively planning, managing and reviewing their ICT resources. The Framework is part of the Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework.

The Coalition will conduct a “stocktake” of the Personally Controlled Electronic Health Record (PCEHR) system should it win the election, according to Opposition spokesman for primary care, Andrew Southcott. Southcott confirmed that Medicare Locals would not be continued in its existing form under a Coalition Government, reports Pulse IT.

“What we see now with the PCEHR it is just another project where they have over-promised and under-delivered,” Southcott said. “Most of the money is already gone, so what we will do is a stocktake when we come into government to determine the functionality of the PCEHR”.

A new Chief Information Officer (CIO) position has opened at Western Australia’s Department of Sport and Recreation. The full-time position will manage the development and implementation of strategic ICT initiatives, including business information solutions. The Department is currently inviting applications for the role.

NSW Land and Property Information is looking for a Director of Information Communication and Technology to lead its ICT staff, and plan and manage ICT activities and initiatives. The full-time position requires expert knowledge of ICT systems and awareness of trends in spatial information systems.

The NSW Government has uploaded a video to its ProcurePoint website, designed to brief labour hire suppliers on the recent changes to its Contingent Workforce State Contract, which is currently in the process of being reformed.

Serco, CSC and Talent 2 have been added to the WA common use arrangement (CUA) for financial, human resources and payroll solutions. The CUA has an approximate value of $68 million and expires in June 2014, with extension options until 2020.

WA’s mandatory CUA for Notebook and Personal Computers has been extended to February 2015. The panel was established in 2010 and had an initial expiry in February 2013. There is one remaining extension option for an additional two years.

South Australia has established an Industry Participation Advocate to ensure local businesses achieve maximum economic benefit from the State’s investment of over $9 billion in capital projects in the next four years. SA Primary Industries and Regions chief executive Ian Nightingale will be taking up the new position.

Dell has won a $7.4 million hardware deal with CSIRO, through the whole-of-government panel for Desktop Hardware. The two-year contract for the supply of desktops and laptops expires in November 2014.

Showing that there still is some appetite for traditional voice carriage, Comcare has awarded Telstra a $620,000 contract for the provision of Fixed Voice Services, despite the growing preference for Voice over IP (VoIP) across Federal Government agencies.
