Victoria has announced a $40 million project to fix mobile blackspots and deliver free Wi-Fi on some Seymour train services. A collaborative process between the Commonwealth Government and mobile infrastructure is due to commence soon starting with an Expressions of Interest (EOI) process. According to a press release, there are more than 1.4 million trips between Seymour and Melbourne each year. The announcement follows the release of three EOIs in March 2014 for the development of free public Wi-Fi networks in Melbourne CBD, Central Bendigo and Central Ballarat. The free Wi-Fi service on trains will be available to carriages travelling between Melbourne and Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong, Seymour and Traralgon.
